SMIC Smart Manufacturing Accelerator Program: Open call for Western Balkan manufacturers

Introduction

The Smart Manufacturing Innovation Centre (SMIC) in Novi Sad, in cooperation with UNIDO, has launched an open call inviting manufacturing SMEs from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia to participate in the SMIC Smart Manufacturing Accelerator Program.

The programme offers up to 15 manufacturing companies the opportunity to receive, free of charge, an expert assessment of their factory and a tailor-made Transformation Plan to guide their digital and green transformation.

Based on UNIDO’s Smart Manufacturing Acceleration (USMA) methodology, the programme takes a holistic approach to factory modernisation, helping companies identify operational inefficiencies, improve the use of energy and materials, and determine where digital technologies and other solutions can deliver the greatest benefits.

The programme consists of two stages. In the first stage, selected companies will receive an expert factory assessment and a practical Transformation Plan identifying priority actions, implementation steps and estimated costs. A smaller group of companies will subsequently be selected for hands-on implementation support, including expert coaching and connections with relevant technology and service providers.

Who can apply?

Manufacturing SMEs registered and operating in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia or Serbia, with fewer than 250 employees and at least three years of operation, are eligible to apply.

The application deadline is 4 December 2026. Participation in the assessment and development of the Transformation Plan is free of charge.

The programme is implemented under the UNIDO project Fostering Industry 4.0 for Green Transition and Circular Economy in the Western Balkans, financed by the Governments of Slovenia and Cyprus and delivered by SMIC in Novi Sad.

Apply now and take the next step towards a more competitive, efficient and sustainable factory.
